No one could have expected anything better than the top 4 in men's tennis securing their spots in the semi finals clash in the 2010 edition of the Barclays ATP World Tour Finals.
Rousing victories yesterday by Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic assured their spots in a wide open race to the semis. Either one of them could have lost to qualify if they were defeated by their respective opponents Tomas Berdych and Andy Roddick. However both were beaten convincingly 7-6 6-1 and 6-2 6-2 ending their chance to move on to the next round in the tournament.
On the other group, Roger Federer unleashed another yet classy performance againsts Robin Soderling beating the Swede 7-6 6-3. The score did not reflect how tight the match was as Soderling kept putting pressure on the former world no. 1 breaking back in the first set to force a tie break. However, Roger hit a wide volley that just dropped a few millimeters inside the line to win the first set and went on to win the match.
Andy Murray, the Brit hometown boy, easily defeated David Ferrer 6-2 6-2 ending the Spaniard record at a dismal 0-3 in the round robin stage. Andy bounced back from a terrible loss to Federer to play one of his finest games in the tournament. Still, pressure mounts in the back of the briton as expectations is high for him to win this tournament in his home country.
