It was a special night for a forgettable year for Roger Federer. Winning the Barclays ATP World Tour finals not only proved that his days are from over, but he also beat longtime nemesis Rafael Nadal convincingly 6-3 3-6 6-1 to end the season in strong fashion.
After winning Australian Open at the start of the year, expectations were sky high for the former world no. 1. No one expected though that his next title would come 10 months after caputring his 16th grand slam trohpy. He eventually ended his 23 semi-finals appearance in grand slam losing to Robin Soderling in the French Open. If that wasn't enough demoralization, he also succumbed to defeat, also in the quarterfinals, to Tomas Berdych in Wimbledon. Everything just seem to went downhill after that.
Seeing that things are not clicking, Roger hired Paul Annacone to work on his game. Which obviously paid off after winning 3 more titles to end the season. In the finals againsts Nadal, Roger has been hitting array of winners from forehand to backhand, especially the top spin back hand that he used regularly with success.
