On saturday afternoon, Roger Federer unleashed his full arsenal by demolishing Ivan Ljubicic 7-6 6-2 to get his ticket into the finals playing againsts a player who has a surname more known to be an acoustic singer than a tennis player. Florian Mayer rally back to beat Jarkko Nieminen
in a tight match 4-6 6-4 7-6 to continue his cinderella run for the tournament and booked the first slot for Sunday's final.
Mayer have been pulling out surprises so far and playing his best tennis in his career by beating Feliciano Lopez (6-2 6-2) and hometown favourite Robin Soderling (7-6 6-1) both in very convincing fashion to reach the finals. Roger has to dug out his own hole as he fell behind in the early part of the match againsts his fellow compatriot Stanislas Wawrinka in the semis but eventually prevailed 2-6 6-3 6-2.
I wouldn't say that Sunday's final would be a classic considering how one sided the seedings would be. (Ranked #2 againsts #47). Anything unexpected does happen in tennis, but I would bet my neighbour's dog that Roger would definitely lift the trophy and take his third ATP title of the year.
