Davydenko repeats triumph over Rafa

The match was a repeat of last year's finals and the result was no different.  Nikolay Davydenko defeated world no. 1 Rafael Nadal 6-3 6-2, derailing a showdown between the top 2 seeds in this year's finals.

Rafa had been battling with fever for the past few days and obviously is not in 100% form.  With the Australian Open not too far away, the world no. 1 need to be cautious and get back in tip top shape to capture his fourth straight grand slam trophy.

Not taking any credit away from Nikolay, he has demonstrated tremendous consistency in thrashing the world no. 1 with his pinpoint accuracy shots in straight sets.

Davydenko will face Roger Federer in tonight's finals holding a 2-14 head to head match up againsts the former world no. 1.
